Our project is curating social media posts (twitter, instagram, vine, etc.) from LSU fans, athletes and alumni all into one story using the app Storify. It has been going really well. We’ve learned that sports fans often care more about the things that happen outside the lines than what’s actually going on in the game.

Overall, the response has been good. But the challenge has been cultivating an audience. We’ve come up with a hashtag to use every time we post: #ReactLSU. We have used LSU student media’s platform posting Storifys from Tiger TV Sports twitter account and have put some of our Storifys on the LSUReveille website.

Our post that has received the most attention so far was the Storify we created in response to former LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s miraculous catch. That was a lot of fun to work on.

I think the next step is creating live Storifys while a game/event is going on. Often, what people are saying during a big event, like LSU basketball’s recent NCAA Tournament loss, is where you find your best content. Nevertheless, LSU is a huge sports brand that spans even past Baton Rouge, so there are always plenty of LSU stories to talk about.
