I began working on my YouTube channel as soon as I was approved for my proposal. I was excited to begin working on an LGBTQ project for Louisiana.

However, I quickly realized that my dreams were just that – dreams. Making videos was harder than I imagined. People were always too shy or too self-conscious to get in front of the camera with me. Overall, my dreams looked dismal.

I couldn’t find people willing to go on camera. I was on the verge of giving up, so I decided to change the direction of my proposal last.

Instead of focusing on people’s coming out stories, I wanted to talk about news: LGBTQ news in the country and in the state.

Between Bobby Jindal’s prayer rally and Arkansas’ recent discrimination law, there was a plethora of things to discuss.

This new channel may not be what I originally intended, but it is still something I care deeply about. I’m proud of my work so far, and I can’t wait to see where it’ll take me when I’m finished.
